Sr Litigation Paralegal

Our talented legal team in Reston, Virginia is seeking a Senior Litigation Paralegal. In this role you will provide assistance to in-house attorneys defending consumer, class action, and commercial litigation. For pending litigation, this position requires hands-on analysis through detailed factual research (including working with and sometimes interviewing employees outside the Office of the General Counsel) and legal research; identifying and gathering relevant documents; responding to discovery requests; drafting correspondence; interacting with outside counsel and customers; and assisting attorneys in resolving the cases. Our office is conveniently located across the Toll Road from Reston Town Center and is equipped with a work out center, on site cafeteria, and is situated directly adjacent to the Reston metro stop opening in the future.

Essential job functions include:

Litigation Support:
*Investigate consumer complaints and conduct basic factual research
*Assist in responding to subpoenas and discovery requests
*Conduct basic legal research regarding a variety of federal and state laws, including TCPA and FCRA
*Draft general correspondence and coordinate responses.

Case Management:
*Monitor various sources to identify threatened litigation and newly filed complaints.
*Log new cases
*Track all case assignments
*Assist in preparing case summaries
*Proficiency managing a litigation database

You will also be responsible for preparing both regular management reports and ad hoc reports.

Requirements

EDUCATION: Paralegal studies. Bachelor's degree strongly preferred.

EXPERIENCE:
3+ years total progressive experience as a paralegal in a law firm or in-house legal department
Legal research and litigation experience
Excellent problem solving skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience with Lexis/Westlaw
Computer proficiency including the use of Microsoft Excel
Customer service orientation and ability to work with a team
Ability to work in a detail-oriented and organized manner
Ability to work independently
Ability to work in a fast paced environment
