Navient is seeking a Sr Business Systems Support Test Lead. This position within the Business System Support (BSS) organization is responsible for providing Client Acceptance Test (CAT), Regression, and Post Release Validation (PRV) support for their assigned business area(s) or application(s).  The Business Systems Test Lead is responsible for identifying appropriate business testing needs, writing and often executing test plans.  The Business Systems Test Lead is responsible for providing and executing sound recommendations for defect management, coordination with the business testers and other technical support teams, and supporting the implementation effort. 

A Business Systems Test Lead will need experience with large and small scale test efforts, familiarity of the business process/procedures, be technically adept, and able to plan and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously. The Test Lead will support the Navient and/or 3rd party vendor changes, typically associated to the releases or monthly installs.

When demands are that of a non-traditional schedule, incumbent may be required to work night or weekend hours.

Responsibilities include:


  • Develop mainframe and/or open system software test plans, test execution plans, and test defects deliverables based on business and technical design documentation.
  • Prepare test data in environments for the release and production support activities.
  • Execute tests; record test results; and assess, categorize, and record defects.
  • Manage defects from inception to final disposition including activities related to replicating, tracking and verifying the defect.
  • Analyze document requirements to find discrepancies, inconsistencies and missed scenarios.
  • Analyze production system discrepancies to recommend appropriate resolutions with time estimates.  
  • Prepare and maintain system and program documentation to provide a reference for future system changes.
  • Review and analyze user requests for changes to existing systems and the development of new systems to determine their feasibility and appropriateness.
  • Ensure project testing is complete and software quality risks are identified prior to implementation.

Project Management                                                                                                        

  • Lead medium to large testing projects including developing the test schedule, coordinate project testing communications, design and generate status reports, and keep project on schedule.

Project Participation                                                                                                       

  • Participate in project requirement and design reviews of proposed new features or product changes.
  • Prepare test data for projects.
  • Communicate impacts of defects to testing progress and assist development engineers in replicating defects and finding solutions.
  • Assist in scheduling and defining resource needs for testing.
  • Train and mentor other project team members
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for product testing.

Perform other duties as assigned                                                                           

  • Provide sound recommendations and implement ideas on how to build the testing suites and execute project testing requirements
  • Applicant will be required to provide Progress updates on a daily basis during testing window


  • Bachelor’s Degree - Computer Science, Computer Technology or related area, additional experience above the required minimum may substitute for education.
  • At least 7 years testing experience (4 years for a bachelor’s degree + 3 years of experience)
