Our Tax Analyst (State)is responsible for assisting the State Tax Managing Director and Manager with all aspects of the state tax compliance function.
Some Responsibilities Include:
State Tax Compliance (Income and Non-Income Tax)
- Prepare state income tax returns, estimates, and extensions.
- Prepare state and local non-income tax returns (e.g., sales and use, gross receipts, and property tax filings).
- Respond to state tax notices as needed.
Federal Tax Compliance
- Complete various aspects of the federal tax compliance function.
Prepare State ASC740 (Income Tax Provision) Calculations on an Annual and Quarterly Basis
- Prepare state apportionment factor analysis, modifications, and other information to support the quarterly and annual state effective tax rates.
- Prepare other state specific provision schedules, including State FIN 48 (Uncertain Tax Position) calculations and Net Operating Loss carryover schedules.
State Tax Audits
- Assist in the completion of information document requests from state tax auditors.
Support Company’s Internal Control Process Design and Testing
- Review tax procedures and controls to ensure they are working effectively.
- Assist with management testing of internal controls.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s Degree- Accounting or Related Field.
- 2-4 years of experience with large-size accounting firm or Corporate Tax department.
- Experience in state corporate taxation.
- Experience with tax accounting under ASC 740.
- Experience with corporate tax software, preferably OneSource.
- Expertise in Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.
- Analytical skills and the ability to independently make sound decisions.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- CPA and/or advanced degree.
- Experience with financial institutions.
